Lousa is built so your voice never leaves your Mac. The short version: we do not collect, store, or transmit your data. There are no accounts and no analytics.
Dictation stays on your Mac
Audio capture, speech-to-text transcription, and AI text cleanup all run locally, on your machine, using models downloaded to your Mac. Recordings and transcripts are never uploaded anywhere.
Optional local history
Transcript history is off by default. If you turn it on, transcripts are saved in a plain file on your Mac that only you control — you can inspect, delete entries, or clear it entirely from the app. It never syncs or leaves your device.
Network connections the app makes
- Model downloads: on first run the app downloads speech and language models from Hugging Face's servers. This is a standard file download; no personal data is sent.
- Update checks: the app periodically fetches an update feed from lousa.ai to see whether a new version exists. No personal data is included in the request.
- License activation: if you buy Lousa Pro, your license key is validated with our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, who acts as the merchant of record and processes your purchase under their privacy policy.
What we collect
Nothing. Lousa has no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no user accounts. We cannot see what you dictate, when you dictate, or whether you use the app at all.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date above.
